Renditions of this killer track keep popping up. What is really strange, however, is that multiple bands released the same track in the same year. Kébekélektrik (aka Gino Soccio) released Journey Into Love in 1977 on Les Disques Direction Records from Montreal. The track, re-released as Magic Fly later that year, is nearly identical to Space's Magic Fly, but with a slightly different production feel.

There aren't too many young, contemporary bands that could fool me into thinking their work was good enough to be recorded 30 years ago. Medio Mutante (translation Average Mutant) is one of them. This naughty triad of vintage audio and video synthesizer maestros is putting out really thick analogue music. BTW, they're using a Fairlight CVI video synth for the visuals. Nerd Approved!

Medio Mutante's first release, Inestable, is a 6-track EP published on Cititrax, a Minimal Wave sublabel. They only pressed 600 copes on 160-gram vinyl, which makes it a pretty good buy at $16.00 + s&h.

For the truly hardcore: Before Alive 2007, or even Alive 1997, there was Thomas Bangalter rockin' live acid tech, supposedly at Even Further in Wisconsin on May 26, 1996. This is 30 largely unknown minutes of musical genius. All the hallmarks of Daft Punk's signature composition and sound are there, just 11 years before most people ever even heard of them.
